Jen: This is the PKF Texas Entrepreneur’s Playbook. I’m Jen Lemanski, this week’s guest host, and today we’re telling the stories of what PKF Texas means to our people. Valerie Frey is an Audit Senior; Valerie, welcome to the Playbook.
Valerie: Thanks Jen, it’s great to be here.
Jen: So Valerie, how did you get here?
Valerie: Well I came through an internship program originally, the kind that was connected to my accounting program in college, and at the end of my internship got an offer so I started with PKF full time when I graduated.
Jen: Perfect, perfect. Now what made you choose PKF Texas?
Valerie: Well I think the basic answer is to say it was the culture and the people but there are kind of a lot of different factors that make that up. I know one thing that was important to me was being able to have variety and see different clients and I knew that at PKF I would have an opportunity to do that. I also really appreciated that while there is overtime, it is accounting – public accounting, it seemed like it would probably be a little bit more controlled than at maybe a larger firm. And I like the idea of people actually knowing who I was when I was in the office and not just kind of being a nameless face wandering around.
Jen: That’s great. Now what advice would you give a recruit going through the recruiting process because you yourself went through it.
Valerie: I would say to try and keep as open a mind as possible through the process and just collect all the information you can and then really at the end sit down and thinking through it and figure out which firm really meets your needs best.
Jen: Sounds great, thanks so much for being here.
Valerie: Thank you.
