Leisa: Hello, I’m Leisa Holland Nelson and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business, where we’re going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Grace Rodriguez, the Co-founder and Chief Experience Officer of Station Houston, Houston’s first collaborative and co-working workspace for entrepreneurs and startups. I’ so glad to have you here.
Grace: I am so pleased to be here, thank you.
Leisa: Grace you’ve had an extraordinary career, I know you’ve done a lot of different things, but you’re so successful. You’ve done – my experience with you of course was through TEDx and TED and I was so impressed with what you brought to the party and if I were a little younger I would want to know how you got where you are so young. So if you’ve got some advice for our listeners I would love for you to share it.
Grace: I know everybody talks about following your passion and I think there are a lot of women – there are a lot of people in general who find it difficult to pick what is that thing I’m really passionate about. So my advice is follow your curiosity because if something just peaks your curiosity it could be a problem that you’re challenged to solve, that you really want to stick to and make sure that you can find the root of that problem and solve it, which is what I mentor or advise a lot of our startup companies and entrepreneurs. But it could also be just simply a learning lesson, right? People say fail forward in the tech community and the startup community, well that to me is how you fail forward; you just follow something that peaks your curiosity until you feel like you know what, I’ve done that, and then move on to the next thing.
Leisa: I like that, thank you very much. There you have it, extraordinary advice from an extraordinary woman. I’m Leisa Holland Nelson, author and voice of Women Mean Business.
