Women Mean Business – Constance McDerby

Women Mean Business | Episode: 525 | Guests: Constance McDerby | 0
This week’s extraordinary woman celebrates food, wine and beer in the Houston Metro area. Leisa Holland-Nelson chats with Constance McDerby, founder and co-producer at Food & Vine Time Productions.

Leisa: Hello, I’m Leisa Holland-Nelson and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business where we’re going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Constance McDerby, Founder and Co-producer of Food and Vine Time Productions. Constance, welcome to Women Mean Business.

Constance: Thank you Leisa, it’s great to be here.

Leisa: Well I’m excited to hear about Food and Vine Time Productions, tell me what y’all do.

Constance: Well we eat, drink and we’re merry. No, we have a lot of time around a celebration of food, craft beer and wine.

Leisa: That’s exciting. So how do you celebrate then?

Constance: Well, you know, if you don’t like to eat and you don’t like to drink you’re probably not the best place to go to, but we celebrate – we started years ago, over a decade ago, celebrating the culinary scene here in Houston before it got the national notoriety that it has now. So it’s really very gratifying to watch that come to play after all these years of supporting our talent here.

Leisa: I know you do The Woodlands Wine and Food Affair, I was just there, but I know there’s more than that; tell me what other.

Constance: Well in addition to Wine and Food Week in The Woodlands we have Haute List Houston, the food truck festival, Zest in the West which is with the Houston West Chamber of Commerce celebrating and raising funds for the West Houston Leadership Institute. We have Katy Sip n Stroll that we do twice a year for Cinco Charities and the Bauer House, we do Wine Fair Cy Fair in conjunction with the Cy Fair Houston Chamber raising funds for Reach Unlimited. We do Brewmaster’s Craft Brew Festival in Galveston and Big Brew Destination in the George R. Brown so those are the public events and then there’s private things that we do as well.

Leisa: That’s just great, thank you for being here and telling us about it.

Constance: Thank you, thank you.

Leisa: There you have it, another extraordinary woman doing extraordinary things. I’m Leisa Holland-Nelson, President and Co-founder of ContentActive, Houston’s leading web and mobile design and development company. You can find me at ContentActive.com or follow me on Twitter @LHNelson. We’ll be back again next week with another edition of Women Mean Business.
