Jill Griffin – Author

Women Mean Business | Episode: 594 | Guests: Jill Griffin | 0
Find your passion, focus and work hard—extraordinary advice. Leisa Holland-Nelson visits with the fascinating Jill Griffin, author of Earn Your Seat on a Corporate Board and public board member.

Leisa: Hello, I’m Leisa Holland-Nelsen and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business, where we’re going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Jill Griffin, Author and Corporate Board Director. Jill, welcome to Women Mean Business.

Jill: Thank you, Leisa; so glad to be back.

Leisa: I’m really excited about seeing you again. The last time you were here you gave us some great advice, but I just felt like there was more, and I know there’s a ton in this book, Earn Your Seat on a Corporate Board, but I wanted our listeners and viewers to have one more chance to hear what else you had to say.

Jill: Thank you very much. The second point I would make is, find your passion and work very, very hard in that passion point. My passion was marketing. I graduated with an MBA and I was accepted into the RJ Reynolds Brand Management department, and I loved every minute of that, and I worked extremely hard and I rose really high quickly, but it was a 24/7 job, and I was willing to do that, and I was learning so much and soaking so much up. And what I can say about that experience was, working really hard early in my career, that job and many others had huge dividends by the time I hit 45, 50, and so forth, because you had all this experience that you could apply out in the world. So my advice is, find your passion, focus, and work hard.

Leisa: Thank you very much. There you have it, extraordinary advice from and extraordinary woman. I’m Leisa Holland-Nelson, President and co-founder of ContentActive, Houston’s leading web and mobile technology company. You can find me at contentactive.com or follow me on Twitter @lhnelson. We’ll be back again next week with another edition of Women Mean Business.
