Leisa: Hello, I’m Leisa Holland Nelson and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business, where we’re going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Kim Evans, Co-founder and CEO of Seremedi. Kim, welcome to Women Mean Business.
Kim: Thank you Lisa.
Leisa: I’m going to bet when you were a kid in the back yard you weren’t thinking of growing up and founding a healthcare company, but maybe you were; tell us about your journey to Seremedi.
Kim: Not necessarily a healthcare company. In fact I never imagined I’d be in healthcare, but I knew from an early age – because I come from a long line of entrepreneurs – that I would run a company or found a company, so that was always at the back of my mind that this would happen. In fact, when I first started working at BMC Software a few years ago I knew the first week that I needed to learn the software business because I decided that that was the business that I was going to be in. I was going to be head of a company like that or found a software company so I went about working in every department except for Accounting and Legal. So by the time I was a CEO of a company I had been in Development, I had been in Sales, I had been in Marketing and all aspects of it so I was very comfortable with the business.
Leisa: So was BMC your first job?
Kim: So BMC was the first product-oriented job that I had; out of college I worked for Ross Perot at EDS.
Leisa: Well that’s quite the resume that you have.
Kim: And I can say I worked for Ross Perot because I was actually recruited to work on a special project for him working directly with him and Roger Smith, the CEO of General Motors.
Leisa: Wow, thank you for sharing that with us. There you have it, another extraordinary woman doing extraordinary things.
