Leisa: Hello, I’m Leisa Holland Nelson and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business where we’re going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Sally Sargent, CEO and President of the Host Committee for Super Bowl 51 here in Houston; Sally, welcome to Women Mean Business.
Sallie: Thank you Leisa.
Leisa: I’m going to guess – and listen, maybe you did dream of being the President of the Super Bowl Host Committee as a little kid in your backyard – but if you didn’t I want you to tell us a little bit about your journey to get this incredible job.
Sallie: Well, number one I’m very fortunate to be her but really I started out in the college football arena in the college bowl world and learned about sponsorships and special events and all of that and kind of continued on my path with large scale special events and most of them just happened to be in the world of sports. So super bowls, college bowl games and then threw in a couple of national political conventions.
Leisa: They’re pretty sporty.
Sallie: Yeah, and some other large scale events as well so I’ve been very fortunate along the way.
Leisa: So it really was a career of learning and managing events – event management?
Sallie: Absolutely, yes, yes.
Leisa: Okay, thank you very much.
Sallie: You bet.
Leisa: There you have it, another extraordinary woman doing extraordinary things.
