Women Mean Business – Sallie Sargent

Women Mean Business | Episode: 512 | Guests: Sallie Sargent | 0
More extraordinary career advice from an extraordinary woman. Leisa Holland-Nelson discusses passion and essential skills with Sallie Sargent, president and CEO of Houston Super Bowl Host Committee.

Leisa: Hello, I’m Leisa Holland-Nelson and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business where we’re going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Sallie Sargent, CEO and President of the Host Committee for Houston Super Bowl 51. Sallie, welcome to Women Mean Business.

Sallie: Thank you Leisa.

Leisa: You’ve achieved significant success; imagine we have a young professional sitting with us today, what advice would you give her to achieve the same success you’ve achieved?

Sallie: Well the first thing you have to have is passion for what you’re doing because it’s hard work. So if you want to achieve a goal, get there with some passion and really think about what it is you’re doing. But the one thing, no matter what industry you go into, no matter what career you want to pursue, you need to learn how to write. It’s the one thing that has carried me through from any and all levels in my profession and seen my through to this stage of life.

Leisa: Interesting, you’ve written a lot of proposals, is that where you mean being able to write proposals or thank you notes or just absolutely anything?

Sallie: All of the above. If you can learn how to communicate through the written word your better off than the next guy.

Leisa: So I heard you say be passionate, have a goal and write well.

Sallie: Absolutely.

Leisa: There you have it, thank you very much.

Sallie: Thank you.

Leisa: There you have it, extraordinary advice from an extraordinary woman. I’m Leisa Hollan-Nelson, President and Co-founder of ContentActive, Houston’s leading web and mobile design and development company.
