Women Mean Business – Steffi Claiden

Women Mean Business | Episode: 509 | Guests: Steffi Claiden | 0
She DID dream of becoming a publishing entrepreneur. Leisa Holland-Nelson interviews Steffi Claiden, founder and CEO of the Family Office Review, a publisher of content for high net worth individuals.

Leisa: Hello, I’m Leisa Holland Nelson and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business, where we’re going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Steffi Claiden, the Founder and CEO of Family Office Review, an online and digital magazine; Steffi, welcome to Women Mean Business.

Steffi: Thank you Leisa, I’m delighted to be here.

Leisa: I’m guessing when you were a kid in the backyard playing you weren’t thinking of running an online magazine; we didn’t even have them then.

Steffi: Well actually, funny you should say that, when – in second grade we did the student newspaper and I wrote a story about the economy and I interviewed my dad.

Leisa: So this was your dream? You always planned to do it?

Steffi: Well, kind of sort of.

Leisa: How did it happen?

Steffi: I got interested and then in high school I was on the school newspaper.

Leisa: Okay.

Steffi: I let it go for many years and then I ran another publication before I started this and got interested again after years of doing very different things.

Leisa: So would you call yourself an accidental entrepreneur?

Steffi: Absolutely. I did not intend to do this and it’s been a great ride but it was unexpected. I was working for another company, I had some ideas about working with the wealth holders as opposed to the advisors and the company didn’t want to go in that direction so I left and went my own way.

Leisa: Thanks. There you have it, another extraordinary woman doing extraordinary things. I’m Leisa Holland Nelson, President and Co-founder of ContentActive, Houston’s leading web and mobile design development company. You can find me at ContentActive.com or follow me on Twitter @LHNelson. We’ll be back again next week with another edition of Women Mean Business.
