Women Mean Business – Stephanie Sherrodd

Women Mean Business | Episode: 517 | Guests: Stephanie Sherrod | 0
Why would you spend the big bucks to name a football stadium? Leisa Holland-Nelson asks Stephanie Sherrodd, president and CEO of the Texas Dow Employees Credit Union (TDECU).

Leisa: Hello, I’m Leisa Holland Nelson and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business where we’re going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Stephanie Sherrod, President and CEO of TDECU, you’re credit union. But more exciting to me than your credit union is your name on the football stadium at the University of Houston.

Stephanie: It has been exciting, yes.

Leisa: I want you to tell us about it. What made you decide to do it, why did you do it; how’s it been for you?

Stephanie: Well it’s been terrific, I will let you know that, but we had made some investments in Houston of adding new locations and so we recognized we really needed a way to communicate who we are to the Greater Houston community. So when the opportunity dame up to partner with the university we thought well one, it’s a great way to use advertising to communicate with the Houston population, but also it was a great way to partner with an institution that has a lot of the same values that we do. They’re very interested in financial education; we’re partnered with them on helping in the area of educating their students about making great financial choices for the future. We have a location on campus that serves students and faculty. So it was really a way for us to bring our two missions together to serve the Houston community.

Leisa: Have you had any regrets?

Stephanie: No I haven’t it’s been a great partnership, they’re great to work with and we’re very proud of the stadium itself.

Leisa: Well I am too as a native Houstonian, thank you. There you have it, another extraordinary woman doing extraordinary things. I’m Leisa Holland Nelson, President and Co-founder of ContentActive, Houston’s leading web and mobile design and development company. You can find me at ContentActive.com or follow me on Twitter @LHNelson. We’ll be back again next week with another edition of Women Mean Business.
